Haku held onto Hotaru's hand, looking for all outward appearances, a doting mother - leading her young child into a bustling tavern. "Food first, eh Ru?" He laughed slightly, Haku brushing back errant strands of platinum hair, aware of and strangely unsettled by the appreciative looks he drew from a few of the patrons. He counted out what few coins he had left, frowning slightly as he pushed the coins towards Zuko. "It's not much.. I think there is enough to get the three of you something to eat, and a small room to share."
His brow was drawn slightly in concentration as he pulled the collar of his robe closer to his neck, skifting closer to Zuko, not wanting to draw undue trouble considering their present situation. He leaned closer to Zuko, pushing the money towards him again. "I'll get more tonight."
I will take your mother out to a nice seafood dinner and NEVER call her again!

Thomas stuck his tongue out at Hotaru, flicking him off while Zuko wasn't looking. "Like you'd know the difference!" He stormed into the tavern, throwing his bangs out of his eyes with a dramatic toss of his chin. He made his way to the table, twitching his nose in interest, just slightly, at a few comely patrons, while offering what he was certain - was a charming grin at the barmaid.
"Hello Lovely.." He purred, paying no heed to the monetary debate taking place across the table from him. He pulled out a hefty gold coin, placing it on the table and winking at the young (older) girl. ".. part of this is for the honey mead you're going to bring me.. the rest, is for bringing it back with a smile meant just for me.." He propped his elbow on the table, cradling his chin in his cupped hand. The half smile gracing his lips wavered though, as the giggle he was expecting from her, came as a full and hearty laugh instead as she patted him on the head and told Zuko that his son was 'Just too cute."

The earthbender's hand move quickly from his chest to the sheath were his sword should have been, followed by a hard swing of his non existant blade moved threw the area of Clia's chest. His eyes now open wide as he showed a face full of blood lust and hate, breathing heavily as his stared at her as if he were trying to burn a hole threw her with them. After a few seconds the man close his eyes for a few seconds, slowing his breathing as he tried to regain his control over his emotions. A smile came across his face as reopened them. Blushing slightly as he rubbed the back of his head in a nervous manor, "Sorry about that Clia-chan. I am have just gotten so accustom to being alone that I kind of reacted without thinking about it. Lucky me, that I didn't have my katanas." The large man got to his feet, dusting the dirt from his clothing as he listened to the girl talk about the next town.
Pulling the long thin blade from the ground he began to wind it around his body in his usual fasion, stepping in the direction of the girl with the map. He shrouged to the girl as she tried to convince him to go to the next town, "I could care less, Clia-chan, I am just a mere Rorouni with no end destiantion. I am fine with traveling a bit for a hot meal...." His voice seemed to drown off as he noticed that the girl seemed to tense up and started to look around as if she were looking for someone. 'Did the group she was with catch up to us? I was hoping it would take longer then this....'
He cocked his head at the girl as she stood there staring at him in a odd way, not knowing how to react to the stare that seemed to peice his skin and make him feel guilty for what he was doing to her. Buring his guilt for the moment, he place a smile on his face and tried to show no waver to the water bender's eyes, "What are you talking about, dear? You have already help me more then I could ever ask of you when you saved me from those bandits, not including healing my wounds better then I had ever seen before." To avoid looking into her eyes, the man shifted his weight as he bent his lags at the knees, acting as if he were stretching his legs to get ready to run a marathon. "I am sorry dear, but I think I will use my own two feet to get me there. I am just not so used to riding on any beast." the man waited for the girl to be ready before shoving off of the ground as he started to move his legs as if he were skating across the earth, only looking back to see if the bear could keep up with him, for the man did not want to loose bounty.

Two eyes peered from a dark green cloak that hid within the leafy branches above the metal bender and the young water priestess. The figure leaned its head to the side in a unaproving, "This is such a pain in the ass...." said the female voice coming from inside the cloak, "Why did she have to give such a lame duty.... Kidnap the girl blah blah blah... What use is this girl anyways? It is not like taking this girl is going to win us the war." The girl stretched her arms as she let out a soft yawn. "All I need to say is that Rebecca is lucky she is hot or I would have killed her years ago and took her place...." The sun peered threw the trees showing a of light upon the large smile of the young pale girl as she thought about binding up her commander for a night.
Aisha nearly fell from her hiding spot as she heard the sudden movement of the earth around the earth benders feet. Hanging from the tree by one hand, the girl started to shift her weight, swinging it back and forth. After letting go at the right moment, she latched herself to the side of the tall tree and slid down to the next limb. "Fuck...." ducking out of sight, the girl tried to see if she had been spotted, "Rebecca is going to kill me in a bad way...."

Hotaru stared at Thomas in shock, the rude gesture obviously meant for him. "Did.. did you see him Haku?! He can't do that!" He glared Thomas down and gripped Haku's sleeve as he walked, glaring at him as he strutted into the Tavern. He wondered if the older boy knew how ridiculous he looked. He sat as far away from him as possible when they reached the table, leaning against Haku as Thomas made a display, sensible enough to order tea. Besides, he's get drunk within a few sips right now..
He didn't bother to stifle his laughter as the waitress reacted to what he was sure Thomas thought was a charming routine. "She said you're cute Thomas! Ha!" He doubled over and snorted, finding it difficult to sympathize with the soldier after being picked on all day. He eventually quieted at the whispered tones Haku and Zuko were using though, the idea of Haku leaving him like this to gain a night's stay at the inn seeming completely irrational. His eyes widened, wondering what Haku was going to do now, sitting up and out of contact with the waterbender. Hotaru hated feeling this helpless.. he couldn't solve their problems so what right did he have to complain? He picked up his teacup and stared into it with a sigh. There were so many things about being little again that he knew he was going to hate.

Zuko followed Haku into the tavern, finally calm now that he was starting to tune the "kids" out, a skill that was becoming increasingly necessary to keep him sane. Itoshi he would pay attention to though, narrowing his eyes and glancing at him. "Would you quit talking like that? I've heard pirates with better language than you, you know." He left out the fact that he happened to agree with the creepy toddler this time.
He didn't acknowledge the disapproving looks they received for bringing children into the setting, quickly ordering a drink and finding an inconspicuous place among the regular customers. He took the coins from Haku, sighing as he leaned back in his seat. "I guess this does present a problem." His mind was only taken away from the matter by the bar maid's raucous laughter, glancing up at her to see what the fuss was about. "My what?!" He looked from Thomas to the woman in annoyance, not realizing the entire bar thought that he had fathered his lover and his best friend now. "Idiots." He turned back to Haku quizzically as they were left alone again. "Get money? How?" His eyes widened as he thought about it, suddenly unable to even glance at the miniature Hotaru, his voice not rising above a shocked whisper. "Haku, he's right here! Honestly, we might not have much between the two of us, but we can think of something."

Haku's eyes narrowed, his lips drawing in a thin angry line as he raked his fingers through his hair, giving Zuko an exasperated look. He dropped his hand to the table, the slap of his palm sounding crisp and angry. "Damn it Zuko, Why do you always think of THAT first?!? Come the fuck on! You know there are about a dozen different ways I can make money other than shoving some guy's dick in my ass for cash!"
It took a few moments for Haku to realize just how loudly he had protested Zuko's assumption, and how much attention they now had from the surrounding patrols. Haku amazingly colored slightly, looking down at the table and stared hard at the grain pattern in the wood. He hitched, shook slightly, and then as everything that had happened seem to collide at once, just laughed. "...shit Ru" He turned his head, resting his face against Hotaru's hair. "Can you start fighting with Thomas really loud right now?"

Thomas glared, rising to his feet and knocking his water onto the floor. "Son? SON? You stupid woman! I'm not his damned son!" Hotaru laughing made it worst, his small face pinched in fury as he shook his fist at the laughing barmaid. He barely took note of Haku yelling, not paying much attention as to what he said or what had happened. He huffed, moving to Zuko quickly and placing himself between the fire prince and the barmaid. "I'm his LOVER, wench.."

"Where is that girl?!?!" Rebecca stalked, her minions slinking out of her way. "Why isn't she ever here when I need her for something?" She threw her hads up, pointing at the nearest archer. "You go find her, you find her now.. come back without her and I will kill you."
The archer moved quickly, getting away from her. Searching for the girl wasn't as difficult as it could have been, thankfully, the man breathing a sigh of relief as he dropped onto a branch above her. "The boss wants you. She forgot what she sent you out for again, and she's mad as hell you're not there."

Clia sang softly as she and Arul traveled, content when they came upon a town. She dropped down from the back of the bear, rubbing her leg slightly, unaccustomed to riding for so many long hours at once. "This place looks like they've seen some trouble.." worry etched in her features as she unconsciously shifted closer to him. "They might need some help..." She looked up at him, the question in her face clear, wondering if he would want to assist her in helping these people.
The buildings, what were left of them displayed signs of severe water damage, the people, refuges caring for their injured, trying to repair their homes, or just weeping in despair.
"Arul.. I think we should stop here for a while." She closed her eyes, the emotions of those around them leaving her thrumming with a dull ache at it's intensity. "I can't just ignore this. I have to do something."

Zuko groaned at Haku's unnecessarily loud reaction. So much for staying inconspicuous. "Haku..." He pleaded with the waterbender in an urgent whispered tone, his face burning as he was sure every patron turned to face them. "I'm sorry, okay? I'm sure there's lots of things you're good at. I just meant you haven't demonstrated it yet."
He winced as Thomas only added to his problems, as the soldier, who seemed to be just a child, proclaimed Zuko as his lover. He sighed, pulling Thomas away from his imagined confrontation and looking up apologetically at the stunned girl. "Don't pay him any attention miss, you know how children can be." He emphasized the word 'children', moving Thomas so he stood between them. "We're passing through, we just need a room for tonight." After assuring her there wouldn't be any more disturbances, and proving to the stranger that he could be pleasant, they were shown to one of the cheaper rooms, though thankfully it contained two beds.
He looked down at Thomas, trying to contain his frustration. "You know, as far as the rest of the world is concerned, you're ten years old right now. It might be in our best interest if you could try and act like it. Did you honestly forget?" He sighed, bags dropping beside him as he sat on the edge of a creaky bed. "We need to act like a family, unless we want the whole Earth Nation to realize we're here."

Hotaru stared wide-eyed at Haku as he shouted, obviously insulted by what everyone felt was his only area of expertise. He shrank down in his seat, too afraid to look around at the tavern's stunned patrons. What must everyone be thinking about their odd little group?
He felt one flush merge into another as Thomas' easily-insulted pride caused him to protest the barmaid's assumptions. Hotaru had never been that charming in the first place- he understood the transition from adult to child must have been exponentially harder for someone like Thomas, who had probably fathered children older than he looked at the moment. He sighed, ignoring Haku's pleas and rising from his seat, his feet firmly in place as he waited for the others. "I think we've overstayed our welcome, Zuko."
He glumly followed them upstairs to the room, not really upset with Haku, but not knowing what to say. If that wasn't his plan, then what was? Was he really being honest? Even more upsetting was the thought that they had skipped dinner. He certainly didn't plan to go hungry because of Thomas' outburst, nor did he like the idea of eating trail food again.

Thomas looked at Zuko in shock. His lip trembled slightly, emotions raging behind amber eyes, his fingers curled into the fold of his now oversized tunic. The tremble in his hands perceivable as he lifted the other to run them through his tousled hair. His eyes shifted to the floor, remaining still for a few moments before he muttered, "I'm Sorry, Zuko." He blinked rapidly, shifting from one foot, then the other, glancing over at Hotaru and the slave before looking up at his prince.
Was I really ever so terrible as to deserve this?
"I.. wasn't thinking. I'm not used to it, hell I don't WANT to be used to it. It's just, been a long time since I had to pretend as though you held no interest for me." He shook his head. "I just need a drink ok? That damned woman, she doesn't even know. How could she when I look like this??" He dropped his hands, sighing, his expression one of sorrowful resignation. "Will you please just purchase a bottle of mead for me? Money isn't an issue." He reached in his pack, pulling out a heavy purse and emptied the contents on the table, gold and silver spilling out in an alarming quantity. "Take what you need."

Haku was worried, the fact evident in his face as he checked the small room. He wasn't concerned about the room itself, so much as the situation they were all in. He didn't know how to fix it, didn't know if it even could be. He turned to Hotaru, smiling quickly and lifting him off the floor.
"Tired?" He asked, moving over to the bed farthest from the door and sitting Hotaru in the middle of it. His fingers threaded through strands of soft brown hair as he leaned forward and pressed his lips against Hotaru's brow. "I won't be gone too long, alright?" Haku pressed his forehead against Hotaru's, loath to leave him, but not sure what else to do. I can't very well take him with me while I burgler, can I?
Hake pressed two fingers against Hotaru's side, aiming for a squeal before kissing him on the lips quickly. "I'll bring you back a present." Magic words, Haku knew that and had no qualms about using them now. He smiled, giving Zuko a quick wave before opening the window and climbing out, missing by the matter of a minute, the coin that Thomas littered the table with.

Aisha waited till she was sure that her hit was out of range of her sight before dusting herself off, trying to mask her anger from the archers eyes. She was quite tired of running back and between her missions and Rebecca, like a dog playing fetch with a master who will not throw the stick. She looked up at the archer with a peircing gaze, "Alright I am on my way.... But that puts you in charge of completing my mision, or at least keeping track of the girl." She made a motion of cutting her neck with her finger, "Cause you will regret crossing me if you do."
